Nutrition

Nutrition impacts our mental health by improving or impairing brain functioning.

Try these tools to build healthy nutrition habits::

1

IDENTIFY EVERY-ONCE-IN-A-WHILE FOODS

Identify which foods you should eat less often — not cut out altogether, but only eat every-once-in-a-while. These foods are most likely foods high in fat, salt, or sugar.

2

IDENTIFY MORE-OFTEN FOODS

Identify which foods you can start to eat more-often, perhaps to replace those every-once-in-a-while foods.
These foods might be fruits, veggies, or lean proteins.

3

BE PREPARED FOR CLASS

In order to keep yourself from relying too heavily on vending machines, pack healthy snacks for the day.
Try packing fruit, veggies, or other snacks low in sugar and salt.

4

DRINK WATER

The majority of our sugar intake often comes from what we drink.
Invest in a reusable water bottle to make it easier to increase your water intake throughout the day.
