Mindfulness is maintaining a moment-by-moment awareness of our thoughts, feelings,sensations, and the environment around us at any point during the day.

Try these tools to build your mindfulness muscles:

IDENTIFY WHEN TO BE MINDFUL

Mindfulness is generally practiced while doing other day-to-day activities, like driving, brushing your teeth, or walking.
Identify the times of the day where your mind is prone to negativity, worry, or frustration, and try being mindful then.

NOTICE WHAT IS AROUND YOU

A simple mindfulness exercise includes becoming mindful of the sensations around you.
Take a deep breath and name one thing you can feel, one you can smell, one you can hear, and one you can see.

BE MINDFUL OF YOUR BREATHING

Another mindfulness exercise is to focus on your breathing.
Inhale for four counts, then pause for four counts; exhale for four counts and pause for four counts.
